IT'S FIVE SCHEDULES IN ONE

Schedule Star is FIVE independent schedules in one, and lets you decide how to display, print and manipulate your schedules!

Consider the schedules:

1. SPORTS - Sporting Events
2. PRACTICE - Practices
3. SCHOOL - School Calendar schedule: First day of school, President's day
4. PERSONAL - Personal schedule: Dentist appointments, golf outing, whatever
5. OTHER - This category can be used for almost anything

Designating events according to these categories allows you to make a composite of exactly what you want, and print it out as a list or a calendar.

A user in Illinois who is also the principal uses Schedule Star as his master scheduling tool. He can "overlay" the sporting events with the school calendar, adding and subtracting other schedules as needed. Schedule Star instantly alerts him about facilities conflicts and potential problems.

Need just the school calendar? No problem. From the main screen, click on PRINT. Select Monthly or Large Monthly format, then leave only "School" checked under "Include these events." Then click PRINT. Schedule Star will generate a calendar that includes ONLY those events categorized as "School."

How about a Girls Varsity Basketball Schedule with practices and home games only? It's just a few mouse clicks away. Include "Sports" and "Practices" then select "Home Only" under "Place." Use the pull-downs under "For Team:" to select Girls Varsity Basketball. Select Team Schedule as the type of report, then click PRINT.

Keep in mind that most of the options on the Print Reports screen act as filters. Selecting a date range and clicking PRINT will give you a schedule of EVERY EVENT that falls within the date range. It's up to you to narrow the focus of your report by using the provided filtering options.

Give it a try, and we know you'll be surprised with the number of variations you can put together! The possible combinations are endless.

Five Schedules in one, covering the wide range of your responsibilities.

Schedule Once, use everywhere....

BEFORE YOU CALL US...

Tech support is ALWAYS available. We are ready to answer your questions and assist you with any difficulties you are experiencing while using Schedule Star.

However, there are a few measures you may want to take before contacting our tech support team. In our experience, most of the problems our users encounter are caused by outside influences, such as faulty hardware, corrupt or outdated hardware drivers, or other programs running on the same computer.

Here are a few tips and tricks for curing common problems that often appear to be caused by Schedule Star but are actually the result of other factors.

1. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. If you have used Windows for any amount of time, you probably already know that restarting your machine cures about 90 percent of the computer problems that you experience. Despite what Mr. Gates would have you believe, Window is a fairly unstable operating system. Windows, along with other Microsoft programs including those in the Office suite, tend to have memory leaks that cause crashes and lock-ups.

If Schedule Star starts behaving strangely in any way, quit out and perform a proper restart (click the Windows START button and select SHUTDOWN then RESTART and click OK). Nine times out of ten, everything will be back to normal after your computer boots and you start up Schedule Star again.

2. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONLY ONE COPY OF SCHEDULE STAR OPEN. Having multiple copies of Schedule Star open simultaneously will trigger a multitude a errors, the most common being an "unrecoverable database error -1." This is because the multiple copies will attempt to access the same database files. When this happens, they conflict and trigger errors.

Look at the task bar along the bottom of your desktop. If Schedule Star appears more than once, quit out of Schedule Star immediately. Maximize any other copies that are running and quit out of them as well. When you are sure that ALL copies are closed, start up just ONE copy of Schedule Star and continue working.

3. REINSTALL/UPGRADE YOUR PRINTER DRIVERS. Schedule Star does not actually perform any printing tasks. It prepares the report and "hands" it to Windows. Every time you print anything from Schedule Star, the program immediately hands the information off to Windows. Windows, in turn, spools it to your printer.

If you are experiencing any kind of problems printing reports from Schedule Star, print the report to the screen. If it appears fine on the screen but does not print out correctly, then you definitely have a printer driver problem. Contact your system administrator and ask them to reinstall and/or upgrade your printer drivers.

For reports like contracts or labels that cannot be printed to the screen, try printing them to a different printer, such as a networked printer in another part of the building. Again, if Schedule Star prints fine to one printer but not the other, you have corrupt or outdated printer drivers.

Please note that even if all your other programs appear to print fine except Schedule Star, the problem is probably still the printer driver. Schedule Star hands off graphics and some unusual size and style fonts to Windows to print. If your printer drivers are corrupt or outdated, programs like Schedule Star will be the first to trigger the symptoms, while the letter to Tommy Smith's parents in 10 Point Times New Roman will print just fine.

4. CHECK YOUR NETWORK. If you are having problems uploading to HighSchoolSports.Net, or you are running Schedule Star on a network, always check your network connectivity before calling. Open your web browser and go to a site like www.yahoo.com or www.ford.com that is always up. If the site won't open, your network is either down or experiencing a period of heavy traffic. Contact your network administrator to check the status of your network connection.

Taking a few moments to perform these simple checks before calling will save you time on the phone with us and help our tech support team troubleshoot your problem faster. It's about saving time.... both yours and ours!

YOUR SCHEDULE NET PASSWORD

Uploading to HighSchoolSports.Net is easy, convenient, and, perhaps most importantly, secure. Password protection guarantees you complete control over what information is uploaded and when it is uploaded. No one else can masquerade as you and perform uploads. Even in a worst-case scenario such as equipment theft or unauthorized use of your computer, NO ONE can upload ANYTHING to HighSchoolSports.Net without your Schedule Net password.

The password is set by you when you register with our server and perform your first upload. The password is fully encrypted for your security and protection. The encryption makes it impossible for anyone, including us, to retrieve your password.

If you forget your uploading password, your only option is to contact tech support so we can guide you through re-registering with HighSchoolSports.Net. This involves deleting and editing files on your computer and temporarily removing your schedules from the site. It can be a time-consuming process.

For these reasons, we recommend using a "short and sweet" password that's simple and easy-to-remember, but something only YOU would know. If your team mascot is "Bulldogs", it's not a good password.

You may want to use the same password as your Windows log on or network log on or even your email since you could always contact your own system administrator to get your password if you forget it.

Security like this works two ways. It keeps unauthorized users out, but can be a pain if you don't manage your passwords.
