CHANGING PHONE NUMBERS/EMAIL

If you ever need to change how the phone numbers and e-mail address appears on your Schedule Star printouts, you can edit this information yourself following the instructions below.

If you have build 4177 or newer (look at the number next to the ABOUT button in the lower left corner of the main calendar screen), simply click on UTILITIES and click the PHONE/E-MAIL button. Click into the appropriate fields to make whatever changes you like, and then click SAVE CHANGES. The program will then automatically quit. When you restart Schedule Star, the changes you made will take effect instantly.

If you are using build 4155 or older, you need to make these changes outside of the program. Quit out of Schedule Star. Click the Windows START button and go to Programs. Click on Windows Explorer. Browse to the folder where Schedule Star is located (usually C:\AOA) and find the file register.txt. Double-click to open it in Notepad.

Before you edit anything, please note...
1. You CANNOT change ANY OTHER INFORMATION besides the phone numbers and e-mail address. Since the rest of the information is coded into the long number at the bottom of your information, changing anything else will cause a security violation and lock you out of Schedule Star.

2. If you are removing a phone number (the home phone number, for example), you MUST leave the blank line in place after deleting the number. If you delete the number and bring everything up one line, a misalignment will occur, causing a security violation that will lock you out of the program.

Edit the phone numbers and e-mail address as needed. When you are finished, click on FILE, and then SAVE. Close Notepad and Windows Explorer. Start Schedule Star and print a report to make sure your changes appear.

If your changes do not appear, make sure you were working in the right folder. If you are running Schedule Star from a network, contact your network administrator for assistance.

This information is also available from the FAQ section of our support web site at...

http://www.schedulestar.com/FAQ/faq001.htm

You can also find these instructions (for build 4155 and older ONLY) beginning on page 120 of your User's Guide. If you have build 4177 or newer, you DO NOT need to manually edit the register.txt file; use the PHONE/E-MAIL button in the Utilities Menu as explained above.

CUSTOMIZING PHONE NUMBER TITLES

While you are editing your phone numbers, you may want to implement a little trick to change the titles of the phone numbers as they appear on reports.

Most Athletic Directors prefer not to have their home phone numbers appear on Schedule Star's reports. However, removing the number still leaves the "Home Phone:" title behind with just a blank space next to it.

To put this empty space to good use, you can modify the title of the phone number and insert a new number, like an alternate office number or field house number.

WARNING: MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE!

*To customize the phone number title in build 4177 or newer...

Follow the instruction above for editing phone numbers, but at the beginning of the field before the phone number, type the new title followed by a colon an a space.

EXAMPLE: Field House: 111-555-1234

Click Save Changes and restart Schedule Star.

*To make these changes in build 4155 or older...

Follow the instructions above for editing phone numbers, but at the beginning of the line you want to customize and before the phone number, type the new title followed by a colon and a space.

EXAMPLE: Field House: 111-555-1234

Click FILE, and then SAVE. Quit out of Notepad and Start Schedule Star.

Make sure you do a test print. If your custom title is too long, it may be truncated or cause spacing issues. Print test copies of all the reports that you normally use to check for any problems.

CONTROLLING YOUR HIGHSCHOOLSPORTS.NET UPLOADS

Schedule Star's uploading feature is the ultimate in convenience. Posting your very latest schedules and scores to the Internet is always just a few clicks away.

When you click the UPLOAD TO NET button on the main calendar screen, you are presented with several options. In the yellow area at the top of the window is a date range. This is automatically defaulted to span last month, the current month, and next month. Typically, this default range will encompass any scheduling changes and scores that you added since the last upload.

To the right of the date range is an "Upload everything" check box. Checking this will upload every sporting event in your entire database (notice that checking this box disables the date range). The very first time you upload, we recommend checking this box so that all of your schedules appear on HighSchoolSports.Net. Every so often you should perform an "Uploading everything" to refresh your online schedules and upload any changes you may have forgotten to upload.

However, if you only want to upload certain events over a given date range, you may use the optional filters below the yellow area. To enable a filter, click the check box to the left of it, then use the pull-downs or radio buttons to further specify exactly which events you want to upload.

These filters can be extremely useful if you have started to enter tentative games for next season into your database, but you do not want them to appear online. They are also effective for posting only certain sports schedules online.

If you have events from previous seasons and you want to remove them from HighSchoolSports.Net, use the Archive feature (see page 101 of your User's Guide) to remove them from your database, then do an upload that includes the dates of these events.

What you want to appear on HighSchoolSports.Net is entirely up to you. We will NEVER require you to upload any events that you do not want to appear online. The software will ALWAYS give you complete control over exactly what YOU want to upload.
